November 10, 2019

Sunday School: Redeemer offers Sunday school classes for adults, teens, and youth (Smalls – K-4th grade; Mediums – 5th and 6th grades). All classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 10:15 a.m. (September through May). The adult class will take several months to discuss Stephen Smallman’s book called, What is a Reformed Church? A copy of the book will be provided by the church to those attending. The junior-high/high-school class will continue through the second half of Mark Dever’s book titled, Message of the Old Testament: Promises Made.

Youth Fellowship: Our next fellowship is on Saturday, November 23. We will have a bonfire and other fun at Chelsea Norris’s house down near Carlisle. Time and other details to come later. Please see Matt Dickinson or David Stember for any questions.

Ladies Book Study: Join us for a book study on Wednesday, November 13 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Larson home (4118 Lynner Drive, Des Moines). During our time together we will spend the first 15 minutes in a large group meditating and praying over a passage from Colossians. The remainder of the time will be spent discussing our books in small groups. Women will be grouped according to the book or article of their choice. The first half of the year you may choose from the following options: “The Emotionally Healthy Woman: Eight Things You Have to Quit to Change Your Life,” by Geri Scazzero; “Present over Perfect,” by Shauna Niequist; or a different journal article each month. Our first gathering will be Wednesday, October 9. Watch your emails for more details regarding the group and our plans for the year. Please contact Tracy Dickinson, Karla Hall or Janelle Larson if you have any questions.

Community/Shepherding Groups:

Stember/Kramer – Meeting every 3rd Sunday of the month following the church service. Our next meeting will be November 17 at the Kramer home (395 NE 54th Street, Ankeny). Please bring a main dish and a side to share. See David Stember or Matt Kramer with any questions.

Hall – Meeting the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at the Hall’s home (1540 42nd Street, Des Moines) at 6:30 pm. Our next meeting is November 12. Contact Tim or Karla if you are interested. This group is open to all ages, and families with children are welcome to join.

Saturday Morning Men’s Meeting: The Saturday Morning Men’s Meeting is discussing various objections to Christianity and whether there is reasonable evidence for the existence and nature of God as revealed in the Bible. The men are using Tim Keller’s book, The Reason for God, as the basis for their discussion. During the fall, the group is discussing Part I of the book, “The Leap of Doubt,” addressing common objections to Christianity. During the spring, the group will discuss Part II, “The Reasons for Faith.” Although The Reason for God is used for discussion purposes, it is not required reading–all men are welcome to attend and voice their views and opinions. Please see the page, Saturday Morning Men’s Meeting, for additional information.
