UPCOMING EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
All church activities can be found on the calendar page:
Church Picnic: To celebrate the purchase of Redeemer’s new home, there will be an all-church picnic on Sunday, August 19th, at Tower Park (across Hickman Road from the new building). We have reserved the open shelter for all day (10:00 am to 9:00 pm). Field 3 (corner of Hickman & 50th Street) has been reserved for 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm (soccer or baseball anyone?). The playground is near the shelter. There is a lot of open area unless the other 2 “fields” have been reserved by other groups. We will have paper “licenses” for the day in case we need to claim the shelter or the field. Unfortunately, the splash pool will not be available to us.
About FOOD! Plan on eating around 5:00 pm. Hot dogs, BBQ pork sandwiches, water, lemonade, and table service will be provided. All you need to bring is a side dish and/or dessert and maybe a favorite table or field game. Please come early and stay late to take advantage of this opportunity to fellowship and get better acquainted. Questions? Contact Donna Jackson at (515) 490-8465. Can’t wait to see you there!
Potluck: The September potluck has been moved to September 9th to avoid Labor Day travel conflicts. The theme highlights the beginning of school, Fall sports, and good fellowship! Think about what your favorite Tailgate Party might look like. Consider grilled food (prepared in advance), finger sandwiches, chips, dips, and of course, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Seasonal can be researched at https://www.seasonalfoodguide.org/iowa/early-september.
Sunday School: Sunday school will resume on September 9. Additional details will be forthcoming.
Fellowship Hosting: Fellowship hosting will resume on September 9. Janelle will be sending out a new sign-up list, so watch for that. What will happen with our Fellowship hosting after we move into the new building remains an open question, and plans for this may change.
Readers: Beginning in September we will have members participate in the worship as readers. We are beginning to look for volunteers. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Larson.
Saturday Men’s Meeting: We have finished our discussion of the book “The Soul of Shame,” by Curt Thomson, MD, and our group will take a break for the remainder of the summer. We will resume sometime in the fall. For more information, contact Nate Hurst.
RPC Women’s Retreat: Due to activities related to the anticipated purchase of the new church building, we have decided to cancel the Fall women’s retreat. We hope to be able to reschedule the retreat in the first half of 2019 and host it in Redeemer’s own church building on Hickman Road.
